Olga M. Carlsen, 92, Seamstress
Olga M. Carlsen (nee Romaneck), 92, of Avon Lake, formerly of Long Island, NY, passed away, Monday, April 22, 2002 at Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Center, of heart failure.Mrs. Carlsen was born September 12, 1909 in New York City and has lived in Avon Lake for the past 18 years.
Mrs. Carlsen was employed by the United International Garment Workers Union, where she worked as a seamstress, retiring 1982. Mrs. Carlsen worked for Grumman Aircraft as a riveter during WWII. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Avon Lake, one of the first residents of Beach Park Tower, Avon Lake and a member of Beach Park Tower singing group, the Towerettes. She also sang at many family events.
Her husband of 48 years, Alf H. Carlsen, passed away in 1976. She is survived by a son, Henry F. Carlsen, 6 grandchildren, Bob, Rudy, Becky Jacobs, Eric, Lynn Mey and Lori DeMonia. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and a sister, Helen Pellicio of Long Island. Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Anna (nee Berkela) Romaneck and two brothers, Eugene Romaneck and Martin Romanac.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Beldon Road, Wednesday, April 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer service at the funeral home, Thursday, April 25th at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Timothy J. O'Connor of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Avon.
