Dorothy Maloney, 77, Enjoyed Gardening

Dorothy Maloney (nee Czarney), age 77, of Lorain, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at Community Health Partners in Lorain following a sudden illness.

She was born on February 24, 1925 in Lorain, OH where she was a lifelong resident.

She graduated from Lorain High School in 1943 Class B. She worked in the cafeteria for the Lorain City Schools for 10 years, retiring in 1986. She also worked in the cafeteria at the Thew Shovel Company in Lorain. She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Lorain. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, bowling and playing the piano.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Burich of Sheffield Village and Ginny Hawes of Elyria; sons, John Maloney of Amherst and Larry Maloney of Avon, 8 grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Rak of North Ridgeville and Mary O'Connor of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Maloney in 1992,her parents John and Christina (nee Skrocki) Czarney and sisters, Marie Sands and Theresa Majoras.

Friends may call Thursday, April 25, 2002 from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. at the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Ohio.

A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2002 at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 418 West 15th Street, Lorain. Reverend Robert J. Glepko, pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
