William V. Kinnard, MD, 71 of Vermilion died Sunday, April 28, 2002 at his home after a lengthy illness.He was born May 16, 1930 in Albany, NY and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 6 years moving from Buffalo, NY.
Dr. Kinnard worked as President and CEO of Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY from 1975-1990 and as President and CEO of the Buffalo General Foundation and General Care Corporation in Buffalo from 1990-1995. Prior to that he was an Associate Director for Professional Affairs and Medical Director at the Albany medical Center Hospital, Albany NY working there from 1963 to 1975.
Dr. Kinnard graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont in 1952 and Albany Medical College, Albany, NY in 1956. He served 2 years in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander in the Medical Corp. Subsequently he completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Albany Medical Center. He practiced General Internal Medicine in Great Barrington, Massachusetts from 1961-1963.
Dr. Kinnard retired from medicine and hospital administration in 1995 and started Hidden Brook Farms, inc. a business dedicated to quarter horse breeding and promoting the sport of cutting. He and his wife, Diane, move the business to Vermilion in1996. He was an active member of the National Cutting Horse Associating, American Quarter Horse Association and Ohio Quarter Horse Association.
He is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Ludlow) Kinnard, a daughter, Mrs. Susan Klim RN of Delmar, NY, 2 sons, David R. Kinnard, MD of Golden Colorado and William V. Kinnard III MD of Louisville, Colorado and 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Margaret W. Kinnard and his parents, William V. Sr. and Lydia (nee Grattage) Kinnard.
Private family services were held.
