Irene Burger, 70, Purchasing Agent
Irene Burger (nee Rudnik), age 70, of Amherst Township, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness.She was born June 29, 1931 in Lorain and had been a resident of Amherst Township since 1963. Mrs. Burger was a 1949 graduate of Lorain High School. She went on to attend Lorain County Community College and then received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College.
She was employed as a purchasing agent for the Lorain Metropolitan Housing Authority retiring in 1995 after 15 years of service. She had previously been employed by the Parker-Hannifin Corporation.
A long-time parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church (Lorain), she was a member and past officer of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Amherst and had previously been acknowledged as Women of the Year by that organization.
Her hobbies included collecting dolls and Hummel figurines. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Anthony, a son: Michael A. Burger of Lorain, daughters: Deborah Page of Loveland, OH, Cynthia Aycok of Bartow, FL and 6 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Boleslaw and Alice (nee Ulecki) Rudnik, brothers Ronald and Chester Rudnik and sisters Mary Franta and Stella Wanek.
Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 11, 2002 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor of Nativity church officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
