Martin F. Schweitzer, 61, Schwebel Bakery Driver/Salesman
Martin F. "Skip" Schweitzer, 61, of Spencer, formerly of Avon Lake passed away Wednesday, May 08, 2002 at Medina General Hospital following a four-month illness.Mr. Schweitzer was born march 23, 1941 in Cleveland. He had lived in Avon Lake from 1968 until moving to Spencer in 1992.
Mr. Schweitzer has worked for the Schwebel Bakery, Strongsville for 20 years as a Driver/Salesman. He had worked in the Bread Bakery Business for 15 years with various companies before going to work for Schwebels. Mr. Schweitzer was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 52 and was a Union Steward at the Strongsville Bakery. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Besides his wife, Mary K. (nee Sewalish) whom he married April 19, 1965, Mr. Schweitzer is survived by 2 daughters, Natalie A. Kopko (Robert) of North Canton and Susan H. Fields (T. Douglas) of Englewood, FL, a son, Douglas A. Flay of Westlake, 4 grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael, Halle and Trey. Other survivors include 2 brothers Jack of Richfield and Jim of Westfield Center and 3 sisters Janet of Sheffield Lake, Carol of Spring TX, Elaine of Temperance, MI, JoAnn of Sheffield Lake and Vicki of Hawaii.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Helen L. (nee Clark) Schweitzer and a brother Bill.
Friends may call the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, Saturday, May 11th from 3-5 an d7-9 p.m. and for one hour before the service at the funeral home, Monday, May 13th at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Kelly Peters of the Avon Lake United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Freedom Chapel Mausoleum at Resthaven Memory Garden.
