Frank J. "Fritz" DeTillio, 80, Lifelong Lorain Resident
Frank J. "Fritz" DeTillio, age 80, passed away Friday, May 10, 2002 at Community Health Partners Emergency room after a brief illness.Born December 10, 1921 in Lorain and was a lifelong Lorain resident.
He graduated from Lorain High School in 1940A. Mr. DeTillio joined the US Navy on February 19, 1942 and served in naval air units in Southwest Pacific with the Solomon Island Group. He served on carrier service units 8, 10, and Fleet Air Base Unit 4.
He worked at Lorain Printing Company for 35 years starting as an apprentice pressman and ending as a vice president of plant operations. Mr. DeTillio was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain. He enjoyed bowling and watching the Indians and Browns. He loved dancing.
Survivors include his wife, Yolanda (nee DiLuciano), sons: Frank and Joseph of Lorain, sister: Ann Carpino, and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Maddalena DeTillio, brothers: John, George and Joseph and sister, Angeline.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 14th at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Fr. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13th from 4-8 p.m. at the Reidy Scanlan Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
