Douglas E. "Doug" Spangler, 77, Enjoyed Golfing and Traveling

Douglas E. "Doug" Spangler, 77 of Lorain, died Sunday evening, May 12, 2002 at the Kemper House-Olmsted Falls in Olmsted Falls, unexpectedly.

Mr. Spangler was born on June 30, 1924 in St. Louis, MO and lived most of his adult life in Lorain. He was a US Army veteran, a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Charleston Lodge #702 of F & AM.

He was a retired designer/draftsman for the former Lorain Products. He had been employed at the Standard Tool in Cleveland. He enjoyed golf and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Marge" Street Spangler (nee Meldrum) of Lorain, son, Douglas Spangler of Ames, MI, daughter, Diane Fugate of Seville, Ohio, step-son, Jack Street of Avon, step-daughter, Carol Fankhauser of Columbia Station, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sisters, Mae Fuller and Sonia Barnes, both of Lakewood, OH.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Spangler in 1985 and his parents Roy D. and Julita A. (nee Domino) Spangler.

Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Wednesday, May 15, 2002 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. James E. Smucker, pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Avon.

Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Alzheimer's Association, 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44120 or the First Presbyterian Church, 1897 E. 30th Street, Lorain, Ohio 44055.
