Brian Anthony Higgins, M.D., 40
Brian Anthony Higgins, M.D., 40 years age and a resident of Westlake, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at St. John Westshore Hospital, Westlake following a sudden heart attack.
He was born October 24, 1961 in Lorain. He was raised in Amherst and graduated from Lorain Catholic High School with the class of 1979. He was a resident of Avon lake for nine years
before moving to Westlake one year ago.
He graduated from Ohio State University in 1983 with a BS in Biological Sciences. He received his Medical Doctorate in 1987 from St. Louis University School of Medicine. Brian served his residency in Radiology at University Hospital of Cleveland and was the Chief of Staff of Radiology at Community Health Partner's H & S Center, Lorain. He was the Diplomat of the American Board of Radiologists with Russell, Berkebile and Associates of Lorain County for ten years. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst and a current member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Bay Village. He was also a member of the Amherst Noon Day Club.
He is survived by his sons Adam Higgins, Cory Higgins, and Tyler Higgins all at home; his daughter, Page Higgins at home; his parents Edward and Shirley (nee Pryatel) Higgins of Amherst; his maternal grandmother Clara Pryatel of Lorain; his brothers Keith Higgins and Kyle Higgins, both of Amherst; and by his sister Lee Anne Aten of Centerville, OH.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Anthony Pryatel in 1965; and by his paternal grandfather Edward C. Higgins, Sr. in 1959 and his paternal grandmother Ann Catherine Higgins in 1981.
Friends may call Thursday, May 16, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, May 17, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Burial of Christian Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Lawrence N. Martello, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Rev. Fr. Thomas L. Weber, pastor of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Westlake, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
