James D. Toothman, 73, Korean War Veteran

James D. Toothman, age 73 of Lorain died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born on March 5, 1929 in Baxter, West Virginia in Marion County. He moved to this area in 1954. He had also lived in Fairview, West Virginia.

He served in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. He earned the Army of Occupational Medal Japan and the Korean Service Medal with 1 Silver Star.

He was employed at Robinson Pipe Service for 8 years, retiring in 1991. Prior to this he was employed at Ferroslag for 21 years.

He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Lorain where he also was the financial secretary.

Mr. Toothman enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his son, James Toothman, of Lorain, daughters: Cheryl Davidson, of Lorain, Patti Seagers of Columbia Station, Lisa Toothman of Lorain and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Helen (nee Miller) Toothman, parents: Brutus H. and Olive (nee King) Toothman, brother: Brutus H. Jr. and sister Buelah Lewis.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Rev. Dale Warrick, pastor of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Lorain will officiate.
