Julia G. "Dona Julia" Arroyo, 86, Enjoyed Cooking

Julia G. "Dona Julia" Arroyo, (nee Delgado), 86, of Lorain, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at her residence, while under the care of New Life Hospice, following a lengthy illness.

Born March 26, 1916 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she has lived in Lorain since 1948.

She owned and operated several restaurants and pool halls in Lorain for many years including Rancho Grande Restaurant in Lorain. She was also a caretaker for many people and children.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain.

She enjoyed cooking, bingo, playing cards, dominoes and dancing.

She is survived by her sons: Victor M. Davila, of Lorain, Carlos Arroyo of Winter Haven, FL, Albert Arroyo of Lorain, Zulex Arroyo of North Carolina, daughters: Gladys Davila-Santana, of Lorain, Avilda Arroyo Rosario, of Puerto Rico, Milagros Arroyo, of Miami, FL, Zulma Arroyo of Puerto Rico, Margaret Gonzalez, of Cape Coral, FL, Mickey Malinowsky of Cape Coral, FL, Betsy Padua, of Lorain, Lillian Hennes, of Columbus, Mary Jean Arroyo, of Georgia, Ana Arroyo of Columbus, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her second husband of 27 years, Carlos in 1997, her first husband Pedro Davila, in 1969, her parents; Pedro Delgado and Concepcion (nee Gomez) her daughter, Maria Muniz and granddaughter: Elizabeth Davila in 1989 and many brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2002 from 6-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The family will also receive friends on Saturday, May 18th from 8:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 8:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
