Walter "Wally" Dzikielewski, 79, U.S. Steel Foreman
Walter "Wally" Dzikielewski, 70 years of age and a resident of Wakeman, formerly of Lorain, passed away, Wednesday, May 15, 2002 at Lorain County Community Health Partners following a brief illness.He was born September 27, 1922 in Lorain where he was raised and lived his entire life. He has lived in Wakeman for the past 3 months.
Wally worked for U.S. Steel, Lorain retiring after more than 30 years in 1978 as a foreman. After retiring he worked for Gargus Catering in Lorain for several years. He was a member of the Local Steel Workers Union #1104 in Lorain, a former member of the United Polish Club in Lorain. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and going to Las Vegas.
He is survived by his son, Walter L. Dzikielewski of Concord CA, his daughter, June Winebrenner of Wakeman; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his brothers Frank Lasky of New Mexico and Leo Dzikielewski of Lorain.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen (nee Cataldo) Dzikielewski in 1982; his companion of 18 years Lille Engle in Dec. 2001; his parents Joseph and Helen Dzikielewski; his grandson, Ryan Dzikielewski; his brothers Edward Jaykel and Joseph Dzikielewski.
Friends may call Sunday, May 19, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be Monday, May 20, 2002 at 9:15 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. from St. John Roman Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Smith, pastor of St. John Roman Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
