Marlene M. "Sally" Rea, 65, Clerical Specialist

Marlene M. "Sally" Rea (nee McKinney), 65 years of age and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Lorain Hospice Residential Center following a short illness.

She was born may 5, 1937 in Lorain and was raised in Valley City, Ohio and graduated from Buckeye High School with the class of 1955. She has lived for the past 31 years in Amherst.

Marlene was a clerical specialist at the Lorain County Commissioner's office for 21 years. Before working for the County Commissioner's office she worked for Tappan Air Conditioning for 14 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst. She loved crafts and decorating cakes for weddings, birthday's and other events.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years James M. Rea; two daughters, Jaclyn Jones of Texas and Lori Elswick of Lorain; 6 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter; three brothers, William McKinney of Texas, Gerald Conrad of Elyria and James Horvath of CA; four sisters, Shirley Wadding of CA, Kathleen Reitz of MO, Linda Weaver of MI and Carroll Kleinodor of Elyria, and one foster sister, Margie Rickenbacker of Valley City.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary (nee Bastock) McKinney, one brother, Richard McKinney, her stepfather, Joseph Semeny and by her foster parents, Carl and Laura Echle.

Friends may call Sunday, May 19, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be Monday, May 20, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by an 11:00 a.m. mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Lawrence Martello pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
