William Oliver Bently Jr., 58, Ford Job Setter

William Oliver Bentley, Jr. 58 years of age and a resident of Sheffield Township, passed away, Monday, May 20, 2002, at his home following a brief illness.

He was born January 3, 1944 in Sergent, KY where he was raised and lived till moving to Sheffield Township in 1963. He has been a resident of Sheffield Township for the past 39 years.

He was employed by Ford Motor Corp., Brookpark Plant for 35 years as a job setter. He also owned and operated Bentley's Videography for ten years. He was a member of West Ridge Baptist Church, Amherst and also Local #1250 of the United Auto Workers Union. He loved being a grandfather and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed attending sporting events at Clearview High School, traveling and helping his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Cleda Carol Bentley (nee: Compton); his daughters, Margaret McGlugritch of Sheffield Township and Deanna Fraam of Sheffield Village; two grandsons; his brother Benjamin Bentley of Elyria; Sisters, Jean Craft, Sadie Ridge and Betty Tackett, all of Sheffield Lake, Opal Thomas of Montana and Bobbie Whitaker of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Olivers, Sr. and Sadie (nee Begley) Bentley.

Friends may call Thursday, May 23, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Tackett, associate pastor of West Ridge Baptist Church, Amherst will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to West Ridge Baptist Church, 46280 Telegraph Road, Amherst, OH 44001.
