William Yavornitzky, 72, Post Office Clerk

William Yavornitzky, 72, of Lorain, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at his home while under the care of New Life Hospice, following a lengthy illness.

A life long resident of Lorain, William was born on April 25, 1930 in Lorain, and graduated from Lorain High School in 1948. Following high school, he received training through the Railway Educational Bureau and worked for B&O Railroad as a pipe fitter for 10 years.

He was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, Lorain, a former member of Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Lorain, and a member of the former St. Stephen Russian Orthodox Church, Lorain. His interests included taking care of his grandchildren, and woodworking.

Surviving is his wife Sandra (nee Vronick) of 47 years, 2 daughters, Caren Quisenberry of Avon, and Suzanne Glowacki of Lorain, 4 grandchildren, 2 brothers, Joseph Yavornitzky and Mike Yavornitzky, both of Lorain, 3 sisters, Eva Jankowski, of Elyria, Olga Yavornitzky of Lorain and Anne Yavornitzky of Middleburg Heights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary (Kuchma) Yavornitzky, 3 brothers, Andrew Yavornitzky, John Yavornitzky, and Harry Yavornitzky.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 24, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain where a parastas service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Services will begin Saturday, May 25, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral services at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 2210 E. 33rd Street, Lorain, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Milorad Orlich, pastor will officiate.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will conduct full military honors.
