Katherine A. Rangus, 83, lifelong Lorain resident

Katherine A. Rangus, (nee KATA), age 83, of Lorain died Friday May 31st, 2002 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following an extended illness. She was born July 24, 1918 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of the city.

Mrs. Rangus was formerly employed as a sales associate for the Sears and Roebuck Company and had also worked in the cafeteria at U.S. Steel's Lorain Works.

She was a parishioner of St. John Roman Catholic Church as well as a member of its Altar & Rosary Society. She was also an affiliate of the National Council of Catholic Women, St. Ann's Lodge of the Polish Alliance, and the Slovenian Fraternal Lodge #21.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Albert J. Rangus, a son: Albert F. Rangus of Lorain, daughter: Elaine Peterson of Livingston, Montana, and a sister: Jeanette Mayher of Lorain.

She was preceded in death b her parents: Kazimierz and Anna (nee Polny) Kata, and by brothers: Ted and Henry Kata.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain where a rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. by members of the St. John Altar & Rosary Society. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. John Roman Catholic Church (Grove Avenue and Homewood Drive). The Rev. Thomas Smith, pastor of St. John Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park - Amherst Township.
