William A. Simon, 96, enjoyed woodworking, gardening and watching baseball
William A. Simon - 96 of Elyria, formerly of Houston, OH passed away, Sunday, June 2, at Elyria Memorial Hospital, following a short illness. Mr. Simon was born, October 16, 1905 in Houston, Oh and lived in Elyria for the past 81 years.Mr. Simon retired from the shipping department at American Standard in 1970 after 41 years of service. He was a member of the International Molders and Allied Workers Union, Local #268. During WWII, while working at American Standard, Mr. Simon worked in the department responsible for making airplane engines. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and watching baseball on television.
His wife, the late Minnie (nee Krieg), whom he married in 1933, passed away in 2000. He is survived by a son William J. of Elyria and a sister Helen Jamieson of Dayton besides his wife; he is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Sarah (nee Saunders) Simon and two brothers, James and Chester.
Friends may call at the BUSCH-CURTIS-SCHEUFFLER FAMILY CHAPEL, 114 Second Street, Elyria, Thursday, June 6 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Kate E. Cox of the 1st Methodist Church, will officiate. Internet will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
