Jean E. Stitak, 83, Lifelong Lorain Resident

Jean E. Stitak (nee Knight), age 83, of Lorain died Monday June 3, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center West after a brief illness. She was born April 13, 1919 in Lorain, where she was a lifelong resident, and a 1937-B graduate of Lorain High School.

She was employed in the blueprint dept. at the former Thew Shovel in Lorain.

Since 1941 she has been a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. She was also a member of St. Anne's Lodge Branch 114 of the First Catholic Slovak Union. For 18 years she volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program at First Lutheran Church in Lorain. She enjoyed visiting to the Lorain Senior Center, making macrame chairs, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas G. Stitak of Lorain; sons: Thomas Stitak Jr., Kevin Stitak, and Kurt Stitak, all of Lorain; daughter: Veletta Tusa of Greensboro, GA; 9 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandsons; brothers: Charles "Richard" Knight and Paul Knight, both of Lorain; and sister: Jacqueline Swable of Pompano Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her brother: William Knight during World War II.

Private family services were held Wednesday in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, officiated. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
