Roberto "Papo" Plaza Soto, 43, former cook, and horse jockey

Roberto "Papo" Plaza Soto, age 43, of Lorain, died on Monday, June 3, 2002 following a sudden illness.

He was born on July 19, 1958 in Puerto Rico. He had moved to this area in the mid 1980's. Prior to this he lived in New York.

Roberto had worked at Tony Roma's, North Olmsted, as a cook. Prior to this he was a horse jockey in Puerto Rico.

He was a visitor at Casa De Dios y Puerto Del Cielo, Lorain.

He is survived by his mother: Margarita Plaza Soto, of Utuado, PR, brothers: Jaime Soto, Benny Soto, Jr, both of Harford, Conn., Carlos Soto, and Jose Soto, both of NY, sisters: Evelyn Soto, of Hardford, Conn., several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father; Gregorio Soto.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 6, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Casa De Dios y Puerta Del Cielo, 218 E. 28th Street, Lorain, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Rev. Tina Martinez, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, is handling the arrangements.
