William Gaydosh, 78, served in US Army during World War II

William J. Gaydosh, 78, died Wednesday June 5, 2002 at his home as the result of complications from diabetes.

He was born April 29, 1924 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

He served with the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

Mr. Gaydosh worked at Thew Shovel in Lorain as a mechanical worker until they closed. He them worked at US Steel for 10 years before retiring.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where he served as an usher during mass. He enjoyed carpentry and dogs. He was a devoted spouse, father, grandfather, and uncle.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary (nee Dubosh) of Lorain, daughter Judy Twist of Stickney, Illinois; 2 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Mary (nee Charnosky) Gaydosh, Stephen Gaydosh, Michael Gaydosh and Andrew Gaydosh and sisters Ann Diaz, Helen Kulchar and Catherine Gaydosh.

Friends may call Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
