Louis M. Tokar, 82, Enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, and hunting
Louis M. Tokar, 82, of Sandusky, died Saturday, June 8, 2002 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky after a short illness.He was born November 21, 1919 in Lorain.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He worked as a Union Carpenter out of Cleveland. He also had worked at ITT, Vermilion in the payroll department and sold real estate. He was a member of the Amherst Fraternal Order of Eagles #1332, Vermilion VFW Post #7576, Vermilion AMVETS Post 22, Vermilion American Legion Post 397, St. Mary Catholic Church, Vermilion, Vermilion Fish and Game, the Ohio Wildlife Federation, the League of Ohio Sportsman the National Rifle Association, and the Vermilion Fish and Game. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, and hunting.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia Szekely of Huron, and Barbara Tokar of Mentor; 3 Grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, a brother Nick Tokar of Huron and sisters, Margaret Nemeth of Wellington, and Elizabeth Horvat of Huron.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Henrietta Tokar in 1994 after 51 years of marriage; parents, Nickolas and Marie (nee Uvegas) Tokar, brother, Frank Tokar and sister, Annie Churchill.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
A Christian Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m.
Prayers will be said in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Wednesday June 12, 2002, at 1 p.m. Father Steve Blum, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
The Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct military graveside services.
