Mary D. Barbuscak, 85, enjoyed cooking and baking

Mary D. Barbuscak (nee Durica), 85, of Lorain, died Monday June 10, 2002 at Oberlin Medical Center following an extended illness. Born March 23, 1917 in Porac, Czechoslovakia (now Slovakia), she was a resident of Lorain since 1925. She had previously resided in Cleveland.

Mrs. Barbuscak had been employed in sales at the former May Department Stores Company in the Sheffield Center for 15 years, retiring in 1979. She had also been employed previously by the former Thew Shovel and Nelson Stud Welding.

She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

She is survived by her daughters: Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) Ferencz of Elyria and Eileen Fabrizio of Lorain; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; her sister: Helen Slaughter of Rockwall, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Barbuscak on April 10, 1996; parents: Stephen and Helen (Volchko) Durica; and brother: John Durica.

Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 6:30-9:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain where a Parastas service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church - 2711 West 40th St. - Lorain. The Rev. James Batcha, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggest memorial contributions in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association - Cleveland Chapter - 12200 Fairhill Road, Cleveland OH 44120.
