Irvin J. Tucker, 89, Enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work
Irvin J. Tucker, 89, of Lorain, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at his residence while under the care of New Life Hospice, following a short illness.Born Nov. 26, 1912, in Elyria, he lived in Grafton for 7 years before settling in Lorain in 1941.
While living in Grafton, he worked for the Grafton Foundry. Following his move to Lorain, he worked for the Thew Shovel - Koehring Company for 34 years, as an assembler in Plant 4, retiring in 1975.
He enjoyed gardening, yard work, hunting and fishing.
Surviving are 4 sons, James I. Tucker, of Ozark, AK, Joseph A. Tucker, of Vermilion, Dennis E. Tucker, of Avon, and Frederick M. Tucker, of Sheffield Twp., 5 daughters, Mrs. Rosalie Dorinski, of Sheffield Twp., Mrs. Donna St. Clair, of Lorain, Mrs. Martha Fortney, of Lorain, Mrs. Cheryl John, of Lorain, and Mrs. Mary Jo Barnett, of Elyria, 32 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren, a sister Annabelle Puffer, of Wellington.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Bernice M. Tucker, in 1981, his parents, Alonzo "Lonnie" Tucker, in 1929, and Charlotte "Lottie" (nee Oberla) Tucker, in 1975, his brothers, Clyde E. Minnick, in 1984, Kenneth A. Tucker, in 1971, and Harold F. Tucker, in 1973, sisters Evelyn M. Hunkley, in 1983, Blanche E. Smith, in 1983, Bonnie Tucker, in 1988, and Faralene M. Glowacki, in 2001.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 13, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
