Tom Dan Clark, 76, World War II Veteran

Tom Dan Clark, 76 of Lorain, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2002 at his residence, while under the care of New Life Hospice, following a short illness.

Born Sept. 2, 1925 in Harlan Co., Kentucky, he came to Lorain in 1959.

Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Navy during World War II seeing action in five major battles including Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Leyte Gulf.

Mr. Clark is a retiree of the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, having worked in the paint dept. as a painter and inspector for 20 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local #425.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Lucille (nee Simpson), daughters: Bard Bacher and Ada Phelps, both of Sheffield Lake, sons: Tommy Clark of Livermore, CA, and Gary Clark of Monroe, MI. Mr. Clark is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, sisters: Maxine Marsh and Joyce Stubblefield, both of Knoxville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his mother Frances Roger, his brother Clarence (C.W.) Clark and his granddaughter Cathy Stottlemire.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 16, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where funeral services will be Monday, June 17, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Gary Clark, son of deceased, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. The Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, will conduct full military honors.
