Pablo Rivera, 80, enjoyed fishing
Pablo Rivera, 80, of Lorain, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at Community Health Partners HSC, West, Lorain, following a lengthy illness.Born December 2, 1921 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, he moved to Lorain in 1950.
He was employed as a machine operator at the Brookpark Ford Motor Company for 19 years, retiring in 1972.
Pablo was a member of Iglesia Manantial De Aqua Viva, where he was president of the Men's Ministry. He also volunteered for 10 years at the various church activities for the Assembly of God Church. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local Union 1250 and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his 9 sons, Ezekiel, David, Steve, Moises, William, Sammy, all of Lorain, Juan of Louisville, KY, Ray of Omaha, NB and Adrian of Cleveland; 3 daughters Adia Perez, Carmen Serrano, Inez Serrano, all of Lorain; 36 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother Juan Bautista Rivera of New Haven, Conn; 4 sisters, Maria Rivera Queva of New Haven, Conn, Josefina Rivera Colon of Tampa, FL, Sara Rivera Aguelen of Bayamon, PR, and Rosa Rivera Vakuls of Cayey, PR.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Maria (nee Pagan) in 1991; and sister, Isabele Rivera in 1998.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Iglesia Manantial De Aqua Viva, 2400 Kelly Place, Lorain, where services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Rev. Juan A. Rivera, Pastor, will officiate. The Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain is handling the arrangements. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
