Sarah M. Newbert, 83, enjoyed bingo, knitting and crocheting

Sarah M. Newbert (nee Conroy), 83, of Lorain, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center in Lorain after a long illness.

She was born May 25, 1919 in Lawrence, Massachusetts and had resided in Lorain since 1958.

Mrs. Newbert had worked at Woolen Mills in Lawrence, Massachusetts mending cloth.

She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. She enjoyed bingo, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her sons Peter M. Newbert and Robert J. Newbert, both of Lorain; grandson Peter John Newbert of Lorain; granddaughter Jaclyn A. Newbert of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter V. Newbert in 1981, parents Vincent and Margaret (nee Grey) Conroy, sisters Margret Bobek, Ruth Linehan and Rita Mancini and brothers Jack Keefe, Vincent Conroy, sisters Margret Bobek, Ruth Linehan and Rita Mancini and brothers Jack Keefe, Vincent Conroy and Richard Conroy.

The family will receive friends Monday 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
