Geraldine F. Springer, 82, enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles
Geraldine F. Springer (nee Blaser), 82 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2002 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.She was born June 18, 1920 in Lorain where she was raised and graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1938A. She has been a resident of South Amherst for 62 years.
She was a homemaker and mother. Mrs. Springer was a member of the First United Methodist Church, South Amherst where she served as a Teacher, Superintendent, and Secretary Treasurer in the Sunday School department. She was a member and past President of the United Methodist Women's group and taught Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a member of TOPS in Amherst and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia Baker of Grafton, Connie Kerry and Carol Pullins, both of South Amherst; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister Mildred Burgett of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Russell J. Springer on April 18, 1993; an infant grandson, Jason Pullins, in 1982; by her parents Henry and Hattie (nee Tode) Blaser; and by a brother, Harold Blaser, in infancy.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Hemple Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. The Rev. Gary Lunsford, pastor of First United Methodist Church of South Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
