Delbert L. Sheppard, 60, Enjoyed woodworking, cars, fishing, etc...

Delbert L. Sheppard, 60, of Spencer W. Virginia, and formerly of Lorain died Friday, June 28, 2002 at his daughter's residence in Penfield Twp., following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Sheppard was born on May 12, 1962 in Lorain and had been a life long resident until last 18 years where he resided in Spencer, WV.

He served in the U.S. Army from March 8, 1960 to April 22, 1962. He was employed and retired from US Steel, Lorain in 1984 where he was a Crane operator in the Bar Mill.

His interest included woodworking, working on cars, fishing, camping and drawing.

Survivors include his daughters; Judy Sheppard of Medina, Brenda Gyeszat of Penfield, Barbara Finley of Spencer, OH; Sons Delbert Sheppard of Media and Brian Sheppard of Lorain; 13 grandchildren; Sisters Connie Kayden of Erie, PA; Brothers Jesse Lyn Sheppard of Lakewood, Donald F. Sheppard of Lisbon, Alan Sheppard of Texas, John L. Sheppard of Youngstown and Douglas S. Sheppard of Indiana; Companion Betty Ann Adams of Spencer, WV; Former wife of 23 years Margaret Sheppard of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are his parents Francis D. and Jessie V. (nee Hum) Sheppard; Grandchildren Tyler and Kyle Matheny.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Reidy-Scanlan-Chambers Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memory Garden, 3700 Center Rd., Avon, with full Military Honors being conducted by Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 Lorain.

Officiating will be the Rev. Dale Wheeler, Pastor of New Life Wesleyan Church. Contributions suggested to New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
