Stella B. Sechnicki-Kowalczyk, 82, enjoyed gardening, yard work, and bowling

Stella B. Sechnicki-Kowalczyk, (nee Michalski), age 82, of Sheffield Lake, died on Tuesday July 2, 2002, at her residence, while under the care of New Life Hospice, and her granddaughter, Carolyn Leichtman, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on October 8, 1919 in Elyria. Stella had lived in Lorain until moving to Sheffield Lake in 1957.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain.

Stella enjoyed gardening, yard work, and bowling, having bowled for the Croation Club.

She is survived by her daughters: Maureen Weikel, Edwina Vanek, both of Elyria, Barbara Kingsboro, of Sheffield Lake, 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, brother: Walter Michalski, of Grafton, and sister: Irene Poplar, of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband: Edward Sechnicki, in 1963, 2nd husband: Stanley J. Kowalczyk of 17 years, in 1981, parents: Walter and Lottie Michalski, brother: Chester Michalski in 1982, sister: Helen Bryner and step-great-grandson: Denton Tucker.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 5, 2002 from 6-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, and also on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
