Josefina "Pepita" Martinez, 91, enjoyed singing, cooking, and music
Josefina "Pepita" Martinez (nee Rodriguez), 91, of Lorain, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at her residence with under the care of New Life Hospice, following a lengthy illness.Born May 27, 1911 in Milano, Texas, she moved to Lorain in 1931. Prior to that, she resided in Malakoff, Texas.
Pepita was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, the Sociedad De Nuestra Senora De Guadalupe, Cursillo Movement, and Grupo de Oracion. She enjoyed singing, cooking, and music.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Larry Martinez of Ft. Worth, TX, John Diego (Dee) Martinez, Amid Nazario Martinez, both of Lorain; 2 daughters, Amelia Inchaurregui of San Diego, CA and Elena D. Martinez of Lorain; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Henrietta Diaz of Ft. Worth, TX.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Nazario Martinez in 1976; 2 sons, Amado R. Martinez in 1977 and Manuel O. Velasquez in 1996; brother, Joe L. Rodriquez in 2001; and sister, Julia Casarez in 2001.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 5, 2002 from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Saturday in the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. followed by Mass of Sacred Heart Chapel. 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain at 9:30 a.m. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
