Thomas E. Burns, 45, of Ashland, died Wednesday July 3, 2002 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Baumhart Road and Rt. 20 in Camden Township.He was born March 15, 1957 in Ashland and had resided in Ashland for the past two years. He previously resided in Westerville and Lorain.
Mr. Burns was a graduate of Westerville High School in Westerville. He attended Wabash College in Crawforsville. Indiana and Cleveland State University in Cleveland where he received a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy cum Laude. He then attended the John Marshall Law School in Cleveland.
Mr. Burns worked for the city of Lorain in the Law Director's Office as the assistant law director and prosecutor for the past three years. Prior to that he had a private practice as a defense attorney in Lorain.
He enjoyed golf and reading.
He is survived by his parents Gary and Sherry (nee Hetsler) Burns of Ashland, brother Jon W. (Sarah) Burns of Hollywood, Florida, nephew Shawn Burns of Hollywood, Florida. He is the nephew of Judge Gus and Karen Nunez of Lorain.
Friends may call Sunday 2-4 at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. Cremation will follow. A memorial service will be held Thursday July 11th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 405 Cottage St., Ashland. The Rev. Dr. Thom Gibson, pastor, will officiate.
