Robert Jacob Nekich, 73, US Army Veteran
Robert Jacob Nekich, 73 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, July 15, 202 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a 3-month illness.He was born September 7, 1928 in Lorain and has been a Lorain County resident nearly his entire life. Amherst has been his home for the last thirteen years.
He was employed for Moen Corp. for 28 years, retiring in 1992 as an inspector. He served in the US Army from 1949 to 1950. He enjoyed bingo.
Survivors include his brother Jacob "Jake" Nekich of Amherst; his sister Louise Stapleton of Strongsville; and his longtime friend Marge Shafer of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Anna (nee Matesick) Nekich.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park; 44085 North Ridge Rd., Amherst.
