Viktor Kupiniak, 68, Lorain Resident for 51 Years

Viktor Kupiniak, 68, of Lorain, died Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, Lorain following a brief illness.

Born September 25, 1933 in Ukraine, he has lived in Lorain for the past 51 years.

He worked at the Lorain Works US Steel as a crane man in the transit seamless mill for 35 years retiring in 1987.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lorain, and the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104. He was also a member of The Providence Association of the Ukrainian Catholics in America, having served as secretary.

Surviving is his sisters, Petronela Kupiniak, and Maria Schneider, both of Lorain, nieces, Julia Schneider, and Christina Schneider, both of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father Viktor Kupiniak, in 1985, mother Julia (nee Nuckowski) Kupiniak, in 1981, and a brother, Zenon Kupiniak, in 1992.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19th, from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Ave., Lorain, where a parastas service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 20th, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 3038 Charleston Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Peter Tomas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
