Elizabeth Doraski, 75, Democratic Women's Club President

Elizabeth Doraski, 75, of Lorain, died Wednesday July 24, 2002 after a lengthy illness.

She was born September 21, 1926 in Port Vue, Pennsylvania and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

She was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1944 B.

Mrs. Doraski worked as a cashier at Michael's Market in South Lorain, as a crossing guard at Palm Avenue School in Lorain and then a sales clerk at Margie's Hallmark in Lorain.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and the Women's Guild of the church.

Mrs. Doraski was past president of the Lorain Democratic Women's Club, a member of the Ohio Committee for Consumer Protection, past secretary of the Southview High School Band Booster Club and a past member of the Southview High School PTA and St. Stanislaus Catholic School PTO. She served as campaign manager for several local democratic candidates for office. She served as a reading tutor at Palm Avenue School for many years.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, shopping, travel, and polka dancing. As a youth she enjoyed ice-skating.

She is survived by her daughters: Gloria Jean Mantini and Elizabeth Helen Ziroli, both of Lorain and Jane Marie Kokolari of Columbus, 7 grandchildren and sister Mary Gaydosh of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Joseph Doraski in 1998, infant son Kenneth Doraski, infant daughter Janie Mae Doraski, parents Michael and Elizabeth (nee Safin) Ondulich, brother George Ondulich and sister Josephine Veres.

Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
