Catherine A. Barnhart, 89, Enjoyed crocheting Afghans

Catherine A. Barnhart (nee Jasinski) 89, of Lorain died Sunday, September 8, 2002 at the Autumn Aegis Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. She was born April 12, 1913 in Lorain where she lived her entire life.

She had worked at the former U.S. Steel Co. and was a custodian for Homewood School for many years, retiring in 1953. She was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and Choir. She was also a member of the United Polish Club in Lorain and Elyria. Her hobbies included crocheting and especially Afghans. She also participated in many Lorain International Parades representing her Polish heritage.

Survivors include her daughters Rose Ann Nickoloff-Zadekas of Lorain and Theresa Krause of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and brother Frank Jasinski of Sandusky, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her 1st husband John A. Zadekas in 1951, 2nd husband Brady Barnhart, parents John A. and Anna Jasinski and brothers John, Dominic and Andrew.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home 1939 Oberlin Ave., where a rosary service will be conducted by the Nativity Altar & Rosary Society at 3:00 p.m. Prayer service at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church 418 W. 15th St. Lorain, with the Rev. Robert J. Glepko, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
