Maryann Ziegman, 69, Assistant Cook

Maryann Ziegman (nee Alaksa), age 69, of Lorain, died unexpectedly Saturday in the emergency room of Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center - West.

She was born September 27, 1932 in Hotianske Nemce, Slovakia and had been a resident of Lorain for most of her life.

A parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Lorain), she was employed by Ara Mark Food Services as an assistant cook at Lorain Middle School. She retired in 2001 following 30 years of service to the school district.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed live theater, listening to classical music, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Richard P. Ziegman, a son: Mark S. Ziegman of Lorain, daughters: Ellen J. Brownlee of North Royalton, Ohio and Renee B. Alaksa of Scandia, Minnesota, three grandchildren and by her brothers: Robert and Edward Masley both of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John J. Alaksa in 1946, her mother: Anna (nee Freka) Alaksa in 1980, and by brothers: Paul Alaksa in 1956 and John Alaksa in 1988.

Please join the family for her funeral mass on Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend David A. Novak, pastor of the church will officiate.

The family suggests memorials in her memory to the Building Fund at Holy Trinity Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44055.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
