Margaret Louis Somogy-Carrier, 68, Realtor

Photo of Margaret Louis Somogy-Carrier Margaret Louise Somogyi-Carrier, age 68, of Amherst, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following an extended illness.

She was born May 15, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio and had been a resident of Amherst since 1996.

She graduated from Clearview High School in 1952 and went on to attend Lorain County Community College. She completed the nursing curriculum at the college and received her license as a practical nurse.

She served as a receptionist for Lorain Family Physician, Dr. Brandon; she was then employed as a licensed practical nurse by the Good Samaritan Skilled Nursing Home in Avon. She later received her real estate agent's license and most recently had been employed by Realty One's Amherst office.

An active parishioner of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church (Elyria Township), she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, and was a regular volunteer in the bingo kitchen as well as a hostess for the church's weekly fellowship gathering following Sunday masses.

Her hobbies included playing bingo and camping.

Survivors include sons: mark A. Carrier of Hilliard, Ohio and Jeff J. Carrier of Lorain; daughters: Kathleen L. Roig of Elyria; 8 grandchildren; brother: Donald Somogyi of Amherst; and sisters: Audrey Marcucci and Dorie Sabo, both of Elyria. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alex and Margaret (nee Segeski) Somogyi and by her father-in-law, Joseph J. Carrier and her mother-in-law, Elizabeth Carrier.

Friends may call Friday, October 4, 2002 from 2-4, 7-9 in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain. A rosary service will be conducted by members of the St. Vincent DePaul Altar and Rosary Society at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by her funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria Township. The Rev. James R. Ols, pastor of the church, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

The family suggests memorial contributions to either the St. Vincent DePaul Building Fund, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035 or to new Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
