Theresa Isabelle Semicek, 77, Enjoyed Spending Time with Her Family
Theresa Isabelle Semicek (nee Swan) 77, of Amherst, formerly of Avon, passed away Sunday, October 13 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residence Center, following a sudden illness.Mrs. Semicek was born, January 3, 1925 in Bridge Montana and has lived in Ohio for over 55 years.
Mrs. Semicek worked at Kroger in the Shoreway Shopping Center, Sheffield for 25 years retiring in 1984. She was an active member of Nativity Church, South Amherst, taking part in many church activities. She was a former member of St. Mary Church, Avon. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening and volunteer work.
Mrs. Semicek is survived by a son, Steve D. Semicek, Jr. (LaVerne) of Avon, two granddaughters, Denise Semicek of Powell, Ohio and Natalie Gemelas (Jim) of Avon. Other survivors include two great grandchildren, Tefanos and Alena Gemelas, two brothers, Roy Swan of White Sulfur Springs, Montana and Valley Swan of San Diego, California, two sisters, Kathleen Probandt of St. Angelo, Texas and Delores Larsen of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Besides her husband, Steve J. Semicek, Sr., whom she married September 27, 1941, she is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Kathleen Swan and two sisters, Marie Ruff and Gertrude Kohler.
Friends may call at the Busch-Burmeister Family Chapel, 32000 Detroit Road, Avon, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2002, and for a half hour prior to a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home, Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow, Wednesday, October 16 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon. Fr. Thomas Cleaton of the Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church's Cemetery.
