Irene H. Wilkins, 76, Lorain High School Service Employee

Irene H. Wilkins, (nee Serafin), age 76, of Lorain, died on Monday, October 14, 2002 at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center, West, Lorain following a sudden illness.

She was born on January 8, 1926 in Lorain, where she has been a lifelong resident.

She was a 1944 graduate of Lorain High School.

Irene was employed at Mascon Toy Company as an assembler for 12 years, after which se worked for the Lorain Board of Education at Lorain High School as a service employee for 10 years before retiring in 1987.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lorain, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, Altar and Rosary Society and was an eucharistic minister at the church and Community Health Partners Hospital. She was also a member of the United Polish Club of Elyria and Polish American Citizens Club of Lorain.

She enjoyed traveling, dancing and bingo.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years: Edward S. Wilkins, sons: Edward Wilkins, Jr. of Houston, Texas, daughters: Diane Piec of Ontario, Canada and Monica Tomaszewski of Lorain, 4 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Anthony and Agnes (nee Chinsky), 2 brothers, John Brosky and Walter Bobrowski, 4 sisters: Marie Robertson, Ann Sands, Josephine McMahon, Bernice Akosi all of Lorain.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral Home, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain, where a rosary service will be conducted by Altar & Rosary Society, Ladies Guild and the Holy Name Society of St. Stanislaus Church. Services will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at 9:45 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Kevin Shemuga, pastor, assisted by Rev. Deacon William Schill will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
