Maria J. Mitchell, 76, Enjoyed Cooking and Baking
Maria J. Mitchell (nee DiLuciano), age 76, of Lorain died Monday, October 14, 2002 at her residence following a sudden illness.She was born November 7, 1925 in Lorain and had been a life-long resident of the city.
Mrs. Mitchell attended Lowell, Whittier and Lorain High Schools. A parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Lorain), she enjoyed cooking and baking. She was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed traveling with her husband. Their destinations included two trips to Italy, as well as excursions to Canada, Mexico, and numerous states in North America.
She is survived by her husband of 59 � years: Joseph, daughters: Kathryn Turner and Nancy Mitchell Rieth both of Lorain, son: Thomas A. Mitchell of Painesville Township, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and sisters: Anne "Nin" Broglio and Yolanda "Londie" DeTillio both of Lorain, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Vincenzo and Paolina (nee Leone) DiLuciano, and a brother: Robert in 1986.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 17, 2002 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday, October 18th at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Rev. David A. Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
