Elizabeth Salis, 77, Family Devotee
Elizabeth Salis (nee Vansil), age 77, of Lorain, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Salis was born on April 25, 1925 in Allison, Pennsylvania. She attended Royal High School in Royal, Pennsylvania moving to Ohio in 1941.She was employed as an inspector with the General Industries Company of Elyria from 1943 through 1955.
An active parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church, she was also a member of its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a homemaker and family devotee whose main interest was the company of her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son; Michael S. Salis of North Olmsted, a daughter; Deborah Brady residing in Columbus, two grandchildren, and sisters; Margaret Crummer of Pittsburg and Ruth Walski of Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Michael in 1995, and her parents; Joseph and Anna (nee Fedorko) Vansil, by her brother: Robert Vansil, and a sister; Mary Deliman.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain, where a rosary will be recited by members of the St. Nicholas Altar & Rosary Society at 3:00 p.m. and a Parastas services will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel and will be followed by a Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church - 2711 West 40th Street - Lorain. The Rev. James Batcha, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery - Lorain.
