Nell G. (Garland) Mumford, 92 of Lorain died on Thursday, October 17, 2002 in Lorain, OH due to a long illness.Mrs. Mumford was born on October 21, 1909 in West Bromwich, England and came to the United States in 1924. Her family first moved to a home on Delaware Avenue, which was damaged by the 1924 tornado. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1938. She was secretary for former Lorain Mayor Paul J. Goldthrope.
She was a member of the Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church. She held the distinction of being the oldest living member. She was a charter member of the Ruth Circle.
Her husband Maurice, to whom she was married in a double ring ceremony with her twin sister, survives Mrs. Mumford. Also surviving is a son David Mumford of Lorain and daughter Marilyn Jeffries of North Ridgeville, OH and two grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Ellen (McDermott) Garland and her twin sister Frances Crehore.
Private family services will be followed by burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Amherst Twp., OH with Rev. J. Dennis Henkle, pastor of Delaware Avenue United Methodist Church officiating.
