Cassie Corine Scarbrough, 80, Secretary and Teacher's Aide

Cassie Corine Scarbrough, age 80 of LaGrange, passed away Sunday morning in Elyria Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.

She was born November 17, 1922 in Boonville, Arkansas and had lived in LaGrange since 1972.

She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of LaGrange and former member of the First Baptist Church of Elyria. Mrs. Scarbrough worked as a secretary in Fort Chafee, Arkansas during WWII where she met her husband Clarence. She was formerly employed by Ohio State University in Columbus as a secretary and employed as a teacher's aide for the Elyria Public Schools for 10 years.

She attended LCCC, enjoyed water walking at the "Y" and loved taking care of the family home.

She is survived by her husband Clarence, daughter Sue Scarbrough of Broadview Heights and three sons: Gary of Amherst, Lynn of Fredericktown and Don of Homerville. Mrs. Scarbrough has 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Also surviving is her brother William Guinn of Denton, Texas and sisters Grace Nichols of Springfield, Missouri and Marge Faye Amos of Greenwood, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jewell Dean Summers and Wilma Borum and by brothers Barney, Lenus, Franklin and Bill.

Friends and family may call in the Blackburn Funeral Home 1021 Main Street, Grafton on Wednesday, October 30, 2002, evening from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31st, morning at 11 AM in the First Baptist Church of LaGrange, (corner of School Street and Church Street) with Rev. Noel Hack, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be at 11 AM on Friday, November 1st in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Chesterville, Ohio.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of LaGrange or to the American Cancer Society.
