John Rabold Stevens, 86, U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran
John Rabold Stevens, age 86, of Vermilion, died Wednesday evening, October 30, 2002 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a short illness.He was born September 14, 1916 in Columbus, Ohio. He has been a Vermilion resident for the past 19 years, moving from Connecticut.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp for 5 years and was stationed in Kunming, China in 1942 and 1944. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal, having been a Navigator Bombardier flying in B25's.
He attended West High School in Columbus and attended Ohio State University. He retired as a National Sales Manager from the United Shoe Machinery Corporation in Boston, Mass.
Survivors include his wife, Jane W. Stevens (nee Ward); daughters, Nan Madison of Columbus and Sally Godley of Greenwich; grandchildren, John and James Madison. Andrea (Madison) Martin and John Evan Stevens, great-grand daughter, Chessa Madison.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Belford O. and Luia (Rabold) Stevens.
Private family services were held.
