Robert A. Boone, 66, Enjoyed reading, camping, and spending time with his grandson

Photo of Robert A. Boone Robert A. Boone, 66, of Vermilion, died Monday, November 25, 2002 at Community Health Partners, Lorain after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 9, 1932 in Sandusky, OH and has been a Vermilion resident since 1947. Mr. Boone also lived in Milan, Berlin Heights, and Sandusky.

He worked as a switch room maintenance person for Lorain Telephone for 7 years and Central Telephone in Lorain for 35 years retiring in 1990.

Mr. Boone served in the US Navy during the Korean War.

He was a member of United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermilion where he served on the Diaconate. He was a member, past president, past zone chairman, and past district drug awareness chairman of the Vermilion Lions Club. He also transported corneas for eye nucleation and transplants. Mr. Boone enjoyed reading, camping, and spending time with his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Donna Wiencke of Vermilion, daughter, Karen Leer of Vermilion, 2 brothers, Harold Boone of Vermilion, and Wayne Boone of Vermilion, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alva and Ester (nee Wiley) Boone, a son, David and a brother Thomas.

Friends may call Saturday, November 30, 2002 from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational, 990 State St. Vermilion, OH 44089. The Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor, will officiate. Private interment will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
