Richard A. Hall, 88, Owned This and That Antiques
Richard A. Hall, 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2002 at New Life Hospice Residential Center following a two-week illness. He was born March 31, 1914 in Boone County, KY, where he was raised. As a young man he moved to Ohio. He lived in Birmingham for 17 years moving to Amherst 14 years ago.Richard worked for U.S. Steel for 30 years retiring in 1978 as a 3 Seamless Hot End Laborer. He also owned and operated This and That Antiques in Birmingham. He was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Amherst. Mr. Hall loved reading books on doctrinal prophesy.
Survivors include his wife Opal Hall (nee Wilburn); his sons, Richard Hall of Lorain, Norman Hall of Mouth of Wilson, VA., Michael Hall of Vermilion and Mark Hall of Louisville, OH; his daughters Kay Faight of South Amherst and Connie Hall of Elyria; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his brothers Charles Hall and Marion Hall both of Amherst, and Gene Hall of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Hall in July 1968; his brother Herbert Hall; his parents Jessie "Jack" and Pearl (nee Johnson) Hall.
Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 am., at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. The Rev. Harold Taylor, pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.
