Elizabeth Norma Schlechty, 87, Member of Trinity Evangical Free Church
Elizabeth Norma Schlechty (nee Lutz), 87 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2002 at New Life Hospice Residential Center, Lorain following a brief illness.She was born July 24, 1915 in Medina where she was raised and graduated from Medina High School on May 4, 1933. She moved to Lakewood in 1952 then back to Medina in 1974 where she lived till moving to Elyria in 1992.
She was a graduate of Oberlin School of Commerce in 1934. She was employed at A.I. Root Co. in the cost department and the Old Phoenix National Bank bookkeeping department, both in Medina. Mrs. Schlechty was a member of Medina First Baptist Church where she helped organize the Young at Heart Senior Group and the Medina Margorie Bennett Circle. While living in Lakewood she attended Grace Baptist Church. She most recently was a member of Trinity Evangical Free Church in Amherst.
Survivors include her daughters: Sandra Miller of Brownhelm Township and Gretchen Tolson of Lorain; four granddaughters; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, W. Eugene Schlechty on July 4, 1995; by her parents Karl and Leona A. (nee Perrin) Lutz; her brother Vincent "Bing" Lutz; and by her sister Onnolee Mae Hoelter.
Friends may call Thursday December 26, 2002 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Friday December 27, 2002 at 11:00 am from the funeral home. The Rev. Thom Shumate, associate pastor of Trinity Evangical Free Church, Amherst, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
