Norma Ruth McQueen, 91, Retired teacher, and enjoyed reading

Norma Ruth McQueen (nee Schmidt), 91, formerly of Vermilion, died Thursday, December 26, 2002 at Golden Acres Lorain County Home, Amherst after a short illness. She was born February 15, 1911 in Lorain, Ohio.

She worked as a schoolteacher for Clearview, Firelands, and Amherst schools. She graduated from Ashland College. She was a member of Brownhelm Congregational United Church of Christ, the Amherst Teachers Association and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include three sons: William F. McQueen of Stafford, VA Richard A. McQueen of Vermilion, and The Reverend Dale B. McQueen of Phillipston, Massachusetts, two daughters: Patricia Skelly of Grafton and Kathleen Queen of Amherst, Ohio, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and sister Vivian Enid Carter of Lorain.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William F. McQueen January 1, 1995, and brother Robert George Schmidt and her parents Rudolph George and Cordia Etoile (nee Wilson) Schmidt.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion at 11:30 AM, with the Reverend Sprite Johnson, interim pastor of Brownhelm Congregational church, officiating.

Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio is handling arrangements.
