Mabel Harms, 85, Enjoyed reading, watching television, and being with her family

Mabel Harms (nee Hardley), 85, of Lorain, died Wednesday at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 22, 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio. She had lived in Lorain since 1985, moving from Cleveland. She had also lived in Sheffield Lake.

She was a retired sales clerk working for the Higbee's Department Store in downtown Cleveland for 17 years. She enjoyed reading, watching television, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Maser of Westerville and Peggi Henry of Lorain with whom she made her home; sister, Dorothy Schrieber of Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and one niece. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lily (nee Silver) Hardly and a sister Virginia Kaye.

Private family services will be held at Dombrowski-Volak-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Interment will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
