Mildred M. Brletic, 85, Elementary School Teacher

Mildred M. Brletic, 85, of Lorain, died Saturday February 15, 2003 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a short illness. She was born April 17, 1917 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

She left high school to work at the Lorain Garment Company and later completed her high school education where she received a scholarship to Kent State University. She warned a Bachelor Degree and Master's Degree in Education from Kent State. She also took classes at Oxford University.

Ms. Brletic taught the 5th grade at Oakwood School and Palm Elementary School fro 20 years retiring in 1979.

She was a member of St. Vitus Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the St. Teresa's Guild. She was a life member of the Croatian Club, a member of the OEA (Ohio Education Association), NEA (National Education Association), and LOCORTA (Lorain County Retired Teachers Association).

Ms. Brletic enjoyed traveling and had visited Hawaii, Europe, Australia and South America.

She is survived by her sister Bertha Milovich of Lorain and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph & Anna Brletic (nee Looks), brothers Joseph, Steven, and William Brletic, and sisters Anna Potts and Catherine Brletic.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 17, 2003 from 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, where the Parish Rosary will be recited Monday at 4:00pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Vitus Catholic Church, 1785 E. 32nd St., Lorain. The Rev. Simon Nekic, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
