Joseph J. Sinko, 92, Enjoyed woodworking and crafting toys
Joseph J. Sinko, age 92, of Lorain, died Monday March 3, 2003 at the Avon Oaks Skilled Nursing Facility following a brief illness. He was born January 27, 1911 in Steelton, Pennsylvania and had been a long-time resident of Lorain.Mr. Sinko was employed as a toolmaker for the Perry Fay Division of Parker Hannifin Corporation; he retired in 1973 following a 43 years of service with the company.
He was a gifted handyman who enjoyed repairing various and sundry projects in his home workshop. He especially enjoyed woodworking and crafting toys. He was also an avid reader who possessed a specific interest in books dealing with science, physics, and the universe.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Mary (nee Zore), daughters: Janet J. Sinko of Elyria and Eileen McCrone of Amherst, grandsons: David and Joseph McCrone, and sisters: Elizabeth Varga of Elyria and Julia Yukas of Cave City, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by her parents: Laszlo and Elizabeth (nee Varga) Sinko, a grandson: Bryan McCrone, and by sisters: Irma Novotny, Rose Waby, and Margaret Krosky.
Friends may call Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel - 3224 Broadway - Lorain. The Reverend Mr. John Slatcoff, permanent deacon of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery - Lorain.
